HCC’s Speed Week, a stage race of time trials and hill climbs, concluded with fireworks as Olympic cyclist Carson Mattern (Israel Premier Tech Academy) blew away a long-standing Falkland 40km course record.
Carson, a full member of HCC who is training for the Paris Olympics, used the HCC time trials to prepare for the Canadian Road Nationals in Quebec in two weeks.
He burned through the 40km in 48:26, smashing the course record for HCC members and associates. Previous marks were set by full member Geoff Haydt (52:05 in 2016) and associate member Chris Prendergast (50:33 in 2015).
Other riders today were also impressive. In a normal year, Rob Meneguzzi would have won the day with his very fast 54:23!
Thanks to everyone who came out – a great tradition continues, as the photos and results show!
