Ready to test your limits in a time trial?

New to cycling and looking for a fun way to improve your fitness?

Are you a veteran road cyclist looking for a new challenge? Or, training for triathlon and want to check your bike split?

Then you may be ready to test your limits in a time trial!

What is a time trial?

A time trial is cycling at its most simple: just you, your bike and the clock.

Time trialing is a popular cycling discipline in which riders set off alone at staggered intervals, racing for the lowest time over a set distance.

It’s a great way to challenge yourself and track your progress as you work towards faster times.

What gear do you need?

You don’t need any group-riding skills for a time trial – just a road bike in good mechanical condition.

Sure, you can get all fancy with aerodynamic bikes, helmets and even water bottles. But you can also be like Rocky, and keep your gear simple.

We have two categories at every time trial: one for those who use aero equipment, and one for those who don’t.

In cycling, Eddy Merckx is the undisputed champion of the world. We call our non-aero time trial category ‘Merckx-style’ with good reason.

Easy way to start racing

Time trials are great because everyone can do them, even beginners.

Cycling time trials are a great way to meet other riders and become part of the cycling community. You will learn how to go faster, how to train and more.

What do you have to lose?

If you’re up for the challenge, why not give time trialing a try?

Challenge yourself. Have fun. Don’t worry about your time… just see how far you can go.

Hamilton Cycling Club is one of the few clubs that hosts regular time trial events, and there are always beginner-friendly distances available.
